About Detour: I'm a proud Marine veteran from the Appalachian Mountains in southwestern Virginia; raised by and among coal miners, mechanics and farmers. I joined the Marines at 17 and have subsequently worked in national defense, primarily with and for the USMC, since that time. My bike is my therapist - humming and roaring the answers to all of life's questions. I joined the group as one of the founding members when it was reestablished in October 2022, being elected as the SAA and subsequently the VP in 2024. The IMRG Fredericksburg is an awesome group of guys and gals. I've become friends with people in this group who I know I will be friends with for life. The group is inclusive and fun - come ride with us!
Favorite group story: I was leading a group of about 16 bikes and a chase vehicle from Fredericksburg VA to Maggie Valley NC and taking the group on one of many very questionable detours. Somewhere near the VA/NC state line during what was not the first of many unintentional detours of the ride that day (and wouldn't be the last of the weekend), we were stopped at an up-hill inclined, “T”-intersection in town and surrounded by traffic, with parked cars on both sides of the street. My friend 'Chatty' who was riding #2 yells over the sound of bike engines and loud blaring radios, "Are you using the f%^&ing Force to navigate?!?!" At that moment the light turned green, and as I pulled out I yelled simply, "Yep!".
About Beth: Beth is a proud mom, nanna, and a very tolerant wife. She loves horses (which are not only her hobby but her career) and her doggies. Her greatest joy are her beautiful daughters and grandchildren. She enjoys riding as a passenger, seeing the sights, feeling the 'breeze on her knees', visiting new places on the bike, and hanging with the group. She has hung around with the group since it's reestablishment in 2022, but joined formally in early 2024.
